When Kris Richards addressed her graduating class in the College of Education at Weber State University in 2008, she said she felt a responsibility to share the knowledge she had acquired there. She also said, “Every family that our knowledge can reach out and touch, every relationship that sharing our education can enhance, could potentially change the lives of generations for the better; better patience, better acceptance, better understanding.” Armed with the knowledge, resources and experience she acquired in university and her years of mediating, Kris set out to fulfill that very goal.
The vision of Milestone Mediation & Relationship Education is to help individuals and families to better understand the dynamics of their interpersonal relationships at home and in the workplace, while teaching them skills that will serve to heal and enhance those relationships. Kris has been trained by several nationally recognized relationship experts and is listed as a mediator on the Court Roster for the State of Utah.
Now, she mediates agreements for couples who want to stay married, as well as divorces and child custody issues for those who don’t. If adult children are arguing about how to take care of their elderly parents, Kris can help them solve their family issues by holding a family mediation that will preserve family ties instead of tear them apart. Agreements between feuding teens and their parents are possible when Kris – as a neutral, trained domestic mediator – facilitates their discussion.
Kris’s workshops have a broad scope of topics, which include teen dating, premarital education, stepfamilies, couple communication, empty nesting, elder issues, and parenting adult children. Kris is continuously researching the best and most recent resources to share with her clients.
